Illinois Secretary of State Facility

Overall I had a good experience here, although the wait times can be a little long (but that is to be expected). My main complaint is the hours that they are open. I work over in St. Louis, and most nights I don't even get off work until 6:00pm, which makes it hard for me to find a good time for me to come to the DMV. Luckily, with my first experience here, I was able to come in right when they opened and was out of there within an hour, but I was just getting my license switched from Missouri to Illinois. I still have to get new tags and registration for my new vehicle, but I'm worried about timing and being extremely late for work this time, as I expect this process to take longer than getting a new driver's license. I think they should be open later than 5:30 pm, so that those of us who work later or work far away have an opportunity to come in to do whatever they need to do after work instead of having to rush in the morning. Just something to consider... Edit: After making my second visit there to get my registration and license plates, I definitely think that customers should be able to make appointments here. I showed up at 7:50 am and didn't leave until 10:30 am because they were understaffed. I understand that businesses can sometimes be understaffed, but if that is going to be the case, they should give us the chance to make appointments. There were only 3 people working the front desk, and some of them were taking breaks even though there was a super long line (just for check-in alone). I was 2 hours late to work because of this delay. Luckily, though, once my number was called, I was out the door within 10-15 minutes. Again, just something to consider.

After the Belleville DMV told me that I needed to make an appointment to receive services at their location I called the Mascoutah location. The person who answered explained that walk-ins were always welcomed and that they were fully staffed. I reluctantly made the drive to the Mascoutah location. They were FRIENDLY and SUPER EFFICIENT! I was in and out in 10 mins. Do yourself a favor and make the drive to them!!!!

It is very clean and bright inside. Employees are very friendly and helpful. Because of covid we had to wait outside a little while, but not too long. Once inside they checked us in and then gave us a ticket to wait for another person. After that everything went quickly. It is a new facility, but busier than I thought it would be. We went on a Saturday morning.

I had a great experience renewing my driver's license. Every employee I talked to was personable and helpful. The last employee who handed me my paper license said, "Thank you for your service". I really appreciated that comment! Small tip, if you are going on a Saturday morning, get there early and get in line outside the building! I was #2 in line. I was finished in 20 minutes.

Fantastic. Every experience I’ve had here has been great. Even on busy days with lines out the door, the staff is professional and polite at the least and most of them are incredibly nice even when slammed. I drive 30 minutes out of my way every time just because the of the difference in how the staff treats customers at this location. They should be used as training examples at every other location. Maybe turn the SoS offices reputation around if you had more people like these working there.
